Enterprise Estonia project 2010-2015

The Foundation St. Paul’s Church of Tartu submitted project application “Pauluse kiriku atraktiivsuse tõstmine turismiobjektina (Raising the attractiveness of the Church of St. Paul’s as a tourist attraction)” under the measure of Enterprise Estonia ”Piirkondade konkurentsivõime tugevdamine (Increasing regional competitiveness)” in 2010, and received a positive financing decision in 2012. The project had a total budget of 4.8 million euros and the financial support requested from Enterprise Estonia was approximately 3.2 million euros. The goal of the project was to establish St. Paul’s Church as an attractive place that provides the tourists with positive emotions.

St. Paul’s church was renovated within the framework of the project, including the establishment of  communications, greenery, fire-fighting and security systems, audio and video equipment and purchase of permanent furniture. The church acquired the biggest organ in Southern Estonia with 56 registers.

The project also covered marketing activities, such as publication of leaflets introducing the church, gift books, and video materials. An interactive organ program was prepared for the guests, introducing the history of organs, types of organs and the grand organ of the church of St. Paul. The program is an educational material, which gives a good overview of organ’s working principle.
